Stone Hand Mill

Stone Hand Mill

Rotating hand mills were most pobably already known in pre-Roman times. Our replca is based on roman originals but can of course be used for medieval re-enactment as well.

The hand-mill has two discodial carved stones, which can be coneccted with a steel rod in the center. Between the two millstones you put the grain. The upper stone now can be rotated by the wooden hand-grip and the mill now grinds the grain into flour. As the stones also have a certain grit, the flour should not used for food preparation. It is a historical prop, anyway a great gear to show the ancient and medieval way of grinding.

- Diameter: approx. 30 cm (12")
- Thickness of the stones: approx. 5 cm (2")
- Weight: approx. 15 kg (33 lb)

This item is a prop and not suitable for use in food preparation.
